The SafeCenter is a program of the Sexual Assualt Crisis Center designed to meet the immediate needs of sexual assault crime victims. It is a facility where survivors can get support and information, and receive forensic nursing services.
A specially trained RN, the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) screens for injury and risk of pregnancy and infection, and provides preventative care as needed. She also collects valuable forensic evidence and secures it for use in legal proceedings, when and if the victim decides to prosecute. A team of professionals consisting of a nurse, an advocate, and law enforcement officer are available to meet with the survivor at the facility.
The SafeCenter provides:
- A clean, comfortable and relaxed environment
- Forensic nursing services
- Forensic evidence collection
- Crisis intervention and safety planning
- Free and confidential services
- Available 24 hours a day, every day
Call the crisis line at 865.522.7273 for help or more information.
